Chemin de Fer Essential Basics – Part 1
The main premise of the game is to be dealt cards adding up to 21. Each player is dealt two cards. When a black jack player is handed a 9 or lower value card and an Ace they’ve been given a soft hand. When the blackjack player is dealt no Ace it is known as a hard hand. As soon as the cards have been given to every player at the blackjack table, which includes the dealer, every player is given the opportunity to make one of 6 decisions:
Taking another card (Hit): When a black jack player announces hit me the croupier will give them another card, if the adding of that card causes the total greater than twenty-one the blackjack player will have busted and that’s the end of the game, if the card makes the total to twenty one the player will be the winner and if the total hasn’t yet achieved twenty-one they are still in the game.
Keeping the hand you have been given: If a player is satisfied with the cards they’ll stand. As soon as this has happened the croupier will show their hand and the player who has gotten twenty-one or the nearest to twenty one will win.
Doubling Down: A gambler might request to double down which increases the bet by 100% they have made. Once you’ve taken this procedure you can only be given 1 more card. The details of doubling down are often specified by the table or casino game rules so prior to betting be certain you are comfortable with the casino established rules. If you’re gambling at an on-line betting house this is normally quite easy.
